Girls Cricket Team Success!

This week, a fantastic group of students took part in the first all girls cricket fixture at Clifton vs Birley. During their timetabled PE lessons, they asked for a girls after school cricket club on a Monday, due to enjoying playing cricket so much, so that’s exactly what we did! These girls turn up to cricket practise every Monday without fail, and have worked so hard and improved so much, so we were determined to find a school to play a competitive fixture against, and we would be Cliftons first ever girls cricket team!

Birley won the toss and decided to bat first. The girls were nervous yet excited, but a great first over from captain Rania settled the nerves and the girls found their rhythm. They bowled 10 great overs limiting Birley to finish on 37/9, with Rania and Khola bowling two great wickets along the way. It was now Cliftons turn to bat needing 38 runs to win off 10 overs, and they did exactly that, scoring 45/8 to win! Including the only boundary of the game, with a great 6 from Paige.

The girls were an absolute credit to the school, and were so happy with the result after all their hard work over the last two terms. Well done!
