At Clifton, we make it a priority to keep our students safe, we therefore felt it was important to educate and spread awareness on the issues surrounding knife crime. On Wednesday 12th March, we invited Ant from the Always an Alternative charity, created with the aim of challenging the mindset of young people, and supporting them to make well informed, positive life choices, both in the short term and empowering them to maintain these skills for life. Always an Alternative aims to spread awareness around reducing knife crime, gun crime, gangs culture and anti-social behaviour.
The assembly was well received by our students, students found the assembly useful and engaging. At Clifton, we now hope to use the advise offered by Always an Alternative to work closer with some of our students, who had some great things to say about the session:
‘I really enjoyed the knife crime assembly, it taught me the consequences of knife crime and I loved how we could participate in a lot of the activities.’ – Y8
‘I thought the knife crime assembly was very educational, it allowed students to understand the consequences of using a knife and also how to protect yourself. The assembly taught me how to control emotions because our emotions can make a big impact on how we make decisions.’ – Y10
Well done everyone!
