Clifton vs Oakwood in Cricket

On Thursday 15th May, Clifton’s Y7/8 Cricket Team went to Oakwood for their first hard ball Cricket match. The game was predominantly for the Y8 boys, but backed up by a few of our Y7 players who helped to coach and organise.

We lost the toss and the hosts opted to put us in to bat. We found the going hard but managed to get a few suns on the board. Oakwood’s bowling allowed us a few extras, and Raman and Mustafa scored their first runs for school. Amaan, Tyler, and Hussain along with Captain Sarim added a few more to back up our efforts. We ended on a very respectable 79 after 16 overs.

Our bowling was a lot tighter than the Oakwood team, and our fielding helped to keep us in touch of the win. In a dramatic finish, we ended the game with Oakwood requiring 3 runs from the final ball. We restricted them to a single and won the game by 2 runs.

Once more, a fantastic night, both teams were a credit to their schools. 7 lads bowled and the whole team were able to bat.

Well done to the following students:
  • Mustafa
  • Hussain
  • Amaan
  • Danyal
