We’re incredibly proud that Mr Bartle, one of our Assistant Headteachers, has been recognised with a Silver Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School in this year’s Pearson National Teaching Awards. Chosen from thousands of nominees, he will now be in with a chance of winning the highly desired Gold Award, which will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony in London and on BBC One’s The One Show later this year.
Mr Bartle is an MFL Teacher and a Senior Leader at Clifton, and his passion for teaching was ignited back in 2018, when he first brought his skills as a translator into the classroom to promote the undervalued skill of speaking a second language. He is a passionate advocate for ensuring that every child – no matter their background and community – has the chance to leave school able and qualified. Students in his classes believe that they can succeed and Josh has a proven track record of his students achieving the best results in Languages.
He is one of 93 deserving teachers, lecturers, leaders, support staff and institutions recognised as a Silver Winner in this year’s awards for the lasting impact they have on shaping the lives of young people.
Anna Leng, Headteacher at Clifton Community School, says: “I am extremely pleased that Josh has won a Silver Award. He works so hard, day in day out, for our students and school community – it’s fantastic to see this being rewarded on a national level.
“On behalf of everyone at Clifton, we’d like to say a massive well done. He has a huge future ahead of him and we are just so proud to have been a small part of his journey so far.”
A huge well done, Mr Bartle, and all the best for the next round!
