Last month, Clifton’s Y8/9 Cricket Team travelled to St Pius for a grueling 20 over match.
Captain Isa won the toss and opted to put us in to bowl first. It looked as though this might not have been the right decision as the home batters started to rack up the runs. We bowled quite well, giving away less extras than we have done in previous games but the St Pius order were putting bat to ball. Isa bowled well himself, taking 2 wickets in one over with Haris and Yusuf also taking wickets.
A final total of 106 looked a daunting prospect but we set about hunting this down. We lost Ziyad (guesting from Y7) early, but Yusuf and Amaan steadied the ship. Yusuf retired not out with a brilliant knock of 36 runs, while Amaan (supported by Rania and Isa) retired with an equally impressive 31 not out. Between them, the team rattled through the runs and got the winning run with 6 overs to spare.
The team were brilliant and 8 of our players bowled, while 6 got to bat. A great victory for the team and another pleasant night with some great kids!
