CCS Hull University Music Department Trip

On Friday 1st March Year 10 GCSE Performing Arts (Music) students and Miss Smales were invited to visit the University of Hull for a studio recording workshop with Dr Matthew Barnard. The students gained an insight into further education in Music, life at university, and had the opportunity to use industry standard recording studios and equipment.

The students were taken on a tour of the University’s Music department which included lecture theatres, Middleton Hall, Salmon Grove Studios, and the Duality Studios. They were left in amazement at the demonstration of the Ambisonic Research Studio. Following this, the group were set up in the Duality recording studio and performed songs they had been preparing for their Unit 1 Performing assessment. The staff then used their expertise to produce professional recordings of the tracks.

The students were an absolute credit to Clifton Community School; they were keen to get involved, engaged in every opportunity offered to them, and really embodied the Clifton Way.
