Battle of the Bands 2026

On Thursday 12th February 2026, two of Clifton’s bands represented us at the Rotherham Schools Battle of the Bands Final at Rawmarsh Community School – and what an incredible night it was!

First up were our KS3 band, The ClifTones, who performed in the KS3 category. Considering they have only been rehearsing together since October, the standard they have already reached is outstanding. They delivered a fantastic performance and did themselves proud. The competition was strong, and Thrybergh’s band The Metamorphosis were just that one step ahead, taking a very well-deserved win in the category. Huge congratulations to them!

In the KS4 category, Brighter Than Shadows brought an energy that was simply unmatched. Their performance was close to professional standard, leaving the audience and fellow competitors in awe. It was a tough category, with Rawmarsh’s Cause for Concern and St Bernard’s The Eclipse also delivering impressive performances. St Bernard’s took a well-deserved win for KS4 – congratulations to them from everyone at Clifton!

The evening then built to the announcement of the overall winner of Battle of the Bands 2026. The judges certainly had a difficult decision to make…

The band celebrated with a fantastic acceptance speech, truly embodying The Clifton Way by recognising and congratulating the other bands before celebrating their own success. They took home an incredible selection of prizes, thanks to Rotherham Music, including booked performances at Rotherham Show and Signals Festival, a professional studio recording session, this year’s trophy and many other rewards.

Miss Smales, Mr Sorsby and the Clifton Music team are immensely proud of all the pupils involved. A special thank you also goes to Mr Nota, Miss Forshaw and the Rawmarsh Music team for hosting such a brilliant event.
