Study of the Gothic Genre

As part of our study of the gothic genre, our Y9 and Y10 students were visited by Red Heart Theatres to watch a performance of the texts we have studied in the classroom.  Y10s watched a performance of their GCSE text: Jekyll and Hyde, while our younger students watched performances of H.G. Wells: The Red Room and Edgar Allan Poe: Tell-Tale Heart.

Here’s what some of our students said:

‘Seeing it in person makes it more understandable.’
‘It showed me setting helps set the mood.’
‘It really brought the stories to life and allowed me to better understand the events.’

This was a great immersive way for the students to better understand their texts!
